Domestic Animal Rescue & Education Inc (D.A.R.E) opened its doors as a registered charity on June 1st 2020 – dedicated to saving the lives of Australia’s domestic animals. We are proud to state that we are one of the very few animal rescue organisations that operate as a 100% no kill. That means we will never euthanize an animal due to finance, behaviour, age or medical ailments if a treatment is available.

With Australia’s backyard breeding epidemic; insufficient animal cruelty laws; and a lack of public education surrounding safe and ethical animal ownership; thousands of animals are being killed each year in our community.

Helping vulnerable animals and keeping pets in safe and loving homes requires a commitment from all of us—advocates, pet owners, shelters, leaders, and entire communities. When we work together under a common cause, we’re both saving lives and elevating our society and its laws to ensure cruelty victims and other at-risk animals receive the protection and care they deserve.

Community

D.A.R.E is comprised of a Registered Nurse and her passionate animal loving volunteers, who just like you, wanted to make a difference to the welfare of our fury friends. Here at D.A.R.E, we endeavour to be the pre-eminent animal welfare organisation that rescues and rehabilitates the most vulnerable animals in our community – the abandoned, abused, elderly, sick, misunderstood and orphaned.

D.A.R.E is different to a “shelter” because there are no wages. In addition, we do NOT house animals in a kennel facility. When an animal is abandoned, surrendered or enrolled in our last litter program, they are carefully matched and placed to one of our dedicated registered carers to be rehabilitated in their own homes, under the guidance of our expert team.

We are unique because though we try and save the lives of all domestic animals, we specialize in the beautiful border collie as a breed. We have a multidisciplinary team made up of foster carers, trainers, chiropractors, veterinarians, physiotherapists, volunteers and photographers who own, understand and all share our passion for the breed therefore giving them best opportunity of a second chance.
